Sloka - A school with sensitivity and a deeper understanding of the child.

As the Education Renaissance Trust searched for a well-proven alternative system, the Steiner Waldorf School seemed to be the answer. They have flourished the world over for 75 years with a sound pedagogical backing and philosophy.

Sloka now has 7 grade classes, 3 KG groups and 2 Nursery groups. Each year classes progress till the grade X, when children will have to write ICSE board exams. We have chosen this exam because it allows a lot of freedom and flexibility in teaching the curriculum upto class 8. Even at a later point of time since ICSE encourages alternative methods of teaching, the school an even choose the books which the children will need to study with the concurrence of the board.

Over the years, we have seen the Steiner curriculum unfold very organically starting with the introduction of the letters of the alphabet and the four mathematical processes in Class I along with the fairy tale consciousness to legends of Saints and Fables in class II.

A lot of emphasis is on singing, stories, music, painting and craft. The main lesson block is a unique feature in Steiner schools and it is a balance of head, heart and hands with a lot of rhythmic movement, art and academic challenge for the children. This brings about an economy in teaching and learning; creativity has a very real place in the classrooms, in ideas, reaching the children as well as in managing the class.

Today we have 240 children with 27 teachers at Sloka.
